Deeply Disappointed – A Traumatizing Experience at a Time That Should Have Been Joyful This was our third time at this hospital — our first two daughters were born here, and we returned hoping for the same level of care. What we got instead was the most shocking and disheartening experience we’ve ever had. No improvements in years. The rooms are still outdated, with worn-out furniture and an unpleasant, musty smell. No signs of renovation or basic upkeep — just decay. Unsafe and unhygienic environment. My wife was taken for surgery through a corridor under active construction, with ladders, dust, and no safety protocols whatsoever. She was also brought back with our newborn through the same hazardous path. How is this acceptable for a mother post-surgery — or worse, a newborn’s first exposure to the world? Absolutely no regard for patient rest or recovery. The very next day, the floor was echoing with loud drilling and construction work. My wife — who just gave birth — was trying to rest, only to be startled awake by the unbearable noise. We were never informed this would be happening. Disrespectful and rigid billing practices. Even after informing the hospital about our card limit and having prior history there, they demanded an upfront RM17,000 or they wouldn’t proceed with surgery — despite the surgeon agreeing we could top-up later. The delivery ended up costing RM20,000 — for what exactly? Dusty hallways and zero peace of mind? The only saving grace was our incredible doctor, pediatrician, and anesthetist — truly compassionate professionals who deserved a far better hospital to work in. I never imagined we’d leave a hospital faster than planned because of the mental toll it took on my wife, adding to her postpartum distress. This hospital needs to seriously rethink its priorities — because no amount of skilled doctors can make up for a system that’s failing mothers and newborns when they’re most vulnerable.

Hospitals today need money to operate we get that, but when hospitals lack concern, empathy and only ask question, mode of payment, it becomes a business only enterprise. This lack of emphathy is lacking across most of the division. The doctors are still of good quality, but the support system needs to buck up. Special mention to the anesthesiologist who was fullfilling her role as a doctor, showed empathy and even called.

Terribly long wait for the ortho doctor to sign off on a GL letter. It took FIVE hours for him to sign of on it and for his admin staff to submit it. We’re still here waiting for the GL to be approved. Private hospital no diff from gov hospital in terms of wait time.

The worst and most terrifying experience of my life — all because of the anaesthesia doctor Before the procedure even started, the anaesthesia doctor let me suffer in so much pain. It was extremely unprofessional and traumatic. I expected care and compassion, but got none. To make things worse, the hospital admission process was a nightmare. It took over 6 hours just to get a room. First, they said the delay was due to pending insurance GL. Then they said if I wanted it fast, I should pay on my own. But after I agreed to self-pay, they suddenly told me there were no rooms available. Lousy coordination and terrible service overall.

Falling ill in a foreign land can be a traumatic experience for any traveller. When my wife's health took an unforseen turn, we were advised to seek treatment at Pantai hospital. It turned out to be the best decision we could ever take. From the ER to the CCU, to the ward, the hospital team of consultants and nursing staff were absolutely wonderful! A big thank you to Dato Dr. Rajbans Singh for his expert handling of my wife's case, Dr. Shamala, Dr. Don and all the nurses who always wore a smile even at the end of their shift, whether it be night or day. The front desk staff especially ms. Rohana went out of their way to offer assistance whenever needed. The IPC provided me with complete guidance and care where needed. A big thank you to ms. Ika and Adelene in Accounts. May your Hospital continue to serve humanity. Thank you!
