My mom has been seeing Dr Saravanan for GI issues twice and what we dislike about his approach is that he likes having us come back multiple times, each time introducing new information/tests so he can continue endless charging consultation fees (having understood she has an insurance plan). Today for example, was her pre-endoscopy appointment and he out of a sudden pulled a new one from his hat - that she needs to do a stool sample instead first and come back tomorrow to submit the sample and then only they will decide whether a scope is necessary. Why withhold this information the last time we spoke which was 2-3 weeks ago when we planned specifically for the endoscopy tomorrow? Befuddling indeed. And Sunway has this horrendous system where to meet a consultant it is first come first serve basis, so you have no choice but to show up as early as 8 or 9 AM, only to be seen a few hours later, after the consultant has done his ward rounds. So it is the unnecessary waiting that and coming back just to be told to come back again that really makes Sunway an unpleasant experience overall. Facilities and nurses are first-class, but the endless waiting and money sucking makes it less than desirable. Just be really really careful about which consultant sees to you and don't be afraid to switch consultants if one isn't working for you. You (or your insurance) will pay through the nose anyway better make sure it's actually worth your time - Dr Saravanan unfortunately isn't.
