We traveled from Indonesia to Penang to seek treatment for my mom's osteoarthritis on her knees. From the beginning, it was easy to contact and communicate the hospital. I opened PAH web and talked to the staff via WhatsApp. Then I was instructed to download the app, in which I booked an appointment with an orthopedist. All very easy and straightforward. On the D-day, we met with Dr Ho Shu Chien. He promptly assessed my mom's knees, explained to us her condition, and offered 2 solutions, temporary and long-term (which Indonesian doctors didn't do). He showed us videos of a patient who underwent total knee replacement surgery. But since my mom didn't dare to have surgery, she opted for the temporary solution, which is an injection to her knees. Dr Chien then told us there are 3 options of medicine, the lower grade, the medium grade, and the highest grade. He also informed the price of each option. We opted for the highest grade, and the procedure was done on the same day. We had to wait for about an hour, then the procedure was carried out. After that, the administrative process was swift and prompt. The whole payment and handover of outpatient meds were done in less than 20 mins. I am most impressed by the bills. The bills detailed every single little thing used for my mom's procedure, down to the band-aids used on her knees after the injection, along with the price. We were surprised to see Dr Chien gave a 25% discount of his procedure fees and also waived the anesthesia used on her knees. We are very thankful of him! We thank the Penang Adventist Hospital for taking such a good care of my mom. Would definitely recommend to friends & family, and hope will be able to come back in the future should there be more ailments.
