Dr. Soon Yuen is a highly qualified Consultant General and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon at Sunway Medical Centre. He earned his MBBS from the University of London and holds FRCS (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons) qualifications. He completed his specialist training in the UK and is registered on both the National Specialist Registry of Malaysia (for both General Surgery and Upper GI Surgery) and the Specialist Registry of the General Medical Council in the United Kingdom. Dr. Soon Yuen has extensive experience in a wide array of procedures, including upper and lower GI endoscopy, oesophageal and gastric surgery (both benign and malignant, using open and laparoscopic techniques), and various hernia repair surgeries. He's also experienced in Single Port Surgery, offering patients a "LESS Scar" option. Besides his clinical work, he had been actively involved in training, having served as a Laparoscopic Tutor and Chairman of the Skills Laboratory at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. He speaks multiple languages including, Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin, and Hokkien.
