Associate Professor Dr Loh Pui San is a Senior Consultant Anaesthesiologist and Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology (Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya), practising at UMSC. She holds an MBBS from University of Malaya, a Master of Medicine in Anaesthesiology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and is a Fellow of the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA). She also completed a prominent Transplant Fellowship at Cambridge, UK under the Commonwealth Medical Award. Her specialisms include transplant anaesthesia (both renal & liver), cardiac and neuro-anaesthesia, and geriatric anaesthesia — particularly in managing older surgical patients, including issues like risk assessment, prevention of neurocognitive decline, and care for frailty. Dr Loh has been instrumental in pioneering liver transplant anaesthesia services in Malaysia, contributes to national guidelines (e.g. for hip fractures in the elderly), and has strong collaborations both locally and internationally.
