My daughter was admitted & hospitalize 3d/2n due to food poisoning and was assigned with this so called Doctor SHALENA NESARATNAM - ENDOCRINOLOGY who is a VERY IRRESPONSIBLE DOCTOR! They took her faeces & urine to test on Day 1 & everytime this Doctor came to ward-visit, she did not explain or said anything about her condition, only one sentence, you need to stay for further observation. If you want to discharge, we will give you a form to sign that u will be responsible on your request. So on Day 3, i waited to see her & ask her "what does the faeces & urine test result show?" she replied" that test need 3 days to come out...what a joke?! So i told her, no point we stay for another day. I told her to sign for the discharge & I went to the counter to inform the nurse about it & to my surprise " the blood test, faeces & urine reports is all there in the file. End up the report was explained by the nurse to me.

I am writing this review with deep disappointment regarding the recent experience my mother and our family had at Gleneagles Hospital. During her admission, we encountered Dr. Shalina, whose conduct was far from what we expected from a medical professional in such a reputable institution. Her communication with my mother, a senior citizen, was shockingly rude and lacking in basic empathy. The tone and manner in which she addressed my mother were unkind and completely inappropriate, especially for someone entrusted with the care of vulnerable patients. As a son, I was deeply hurt and angered by the way she treated my mother. Doctors are meant to guide, support, and uplift patients—not to scold or intimidate them. Patients come to hospitals for help, reassurance, and care—especially when they are unwell—not to be made to feel worse than when they arrived. It was disheartening to witness a lack of compassion, especially when we are paying for what should be professional and humane care. Although I chose not to confront her at that moment out of respect for her position, I cannot stay silent about this experience. Respect must go both ways, and medical professionals must treat every patient with dignity and kindness, regardless of age or background. I sincerely hope the hospital management takes this feedback seriously and looks into the behavior and approach of Dr. Shalina. No patient or family should have to go through such an upsetting experience—especially in a facility that prides itself on high standards of care.
