Professor Emeritus Dr Liam Chong Kin is one of Malaysia’s most eminent specialists in respiratory medicine, with particular expertise in lung cancer, asthma, COPD, and other chronic lung diseases. He earned his MBBS from Universiti Malaya and holds prestigious fellowships including FRCP (London), MRCP (UK), FCCP (USA), and FAMM, reflecting international recognition of his clinical and academic standing. Over many years, he has held central leadership roles: he served four terms as President of the Malaysian Thoracic Society and has been deeply involved with the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), continuing to influence research and policy through these bodies.
