Do not come to this hospital! Seriously you just waste your precious time, health, energy and of course money to! The staffs and especially the nurses are sarcastic and impolite. FIRST time ever I treated so disrespectful, I have been to some hospitals in singapore, like NUH, SGH, Gleneagles. But island hospital penang is worse than BPJS service In Indonesia. Apart from the cost we are spending! First day I came on 6 AM as suggested to get the number, at 15.30 eventually met the doctor, spine specialist dr. Oh Kim soon. He refers me to do some tests, Xray and EMG NCS the Nerves test with dr. Liem thien thien the neurologist. However I came again the next day at 8.30 as suggested the neurologist nurse. When I got there I waited and talked to the nurse, said I can came back directly without taking number n wait at 11 am. So I did. At 10.30 I already got to the neurologist clinic, asked the nurse again, then she said I need to take the number then came back sit wait again. So I did. I was waiting and waiting doing nothing until 12pm the nurse came asked me to pay, and again so I paid the bill before doing the test. Then I waited again. After that the nurse told again, another nurse, that I will get the test at 2 pm!! Oh my.... But then again so I came there again 1.30pm. I saw a nurse Ms. Lu from Parkinson and called her nurse nurse, she kept on walking, the I called louder Ms...then she stopped and looking at me unpleasantly. I told her I need the RMG result because the spine surgeon want to see, he want to do the patients surgery soon and tomorrow he will be away for day leaves. She snapped at me and said, " you just wait, wait, the spine surgeon already gone to do surgery." I felt so disrespectful, annoyed. I am sick with my spine problem, traveled far from Jakarta, and it's been 2 annoying uncomfortable 2 loooong days! Seriously, this hospital not humanized for normal people, let alone for sicks people. Finally dr. LIEM THIEN THIEN had my nerve test, he wasn't said anything or great even when he finished did the test. After the result out, the spine surgeon dr. OH KIM SOON already doing the patient surgery and his nurse said he cannot see me after the surgery. WHAAT THE HECK??? He the one who referred me to see the neurologist having the nerves test EMG and he promised he can see me the day after, to read all the result from the tests he suggested. But he didn't care at all. Also waiting at neurologist clinic to have the RMG test by Dr. LIEM THIEN is a double pain for me!! I lost my other appointment in Gleneagles Penang with other spine specialist that day ( as I need 1nd opinion). Thought that will be worth it just hanging on and consult with dr. OH KIM SOON alone. But what i got was a big DISAPPOINTMENT! They refers me to other spine doctor to read result ( the doctor was incompetent and ofcourd I dont satisfy at all) and can do international call on the next Tuesday to speak with dr. OH if I feel unsatisfied yet. Noted. My first appointment with dr. OH KIM SOON is in the 12th september 2019. Suddenly the doctor will leave on the 12th. So I changed my schedules came to penang on the 9th Sept. Changed my airlines tickets with my companions also the hotel booking with OFCOURSE means more money to spending with penalty etc. OH MY GOD what a horrible experience. I am sure I am not the only one. So many patients been treating this way. Please...please...people especially Indonesian we contribute more than 95% to that hospital income. Please respect yourself and get much better SERVICE!!

I have been a patient at Island Hospital for 11 years and am still receiving treatment. I am not an agent and have not been paid a single cent, but I have recommended Island Hospital to over 100 of my acquaintances because I am grateful to the doctors and the Indonesian desk at Island Hospital. They are very helpful. The doctors I have visited are Datuk Oh Kim Soon (very busy but extremely skilled), Dr. Goh Tiong Meng (a general surgeon who has operated on me multiple times), Dr. Goh Hock Keen (an internist who brings peace of mind to his patients), Dr. Mahalaksmi (a very skilled OB/GYN who chooses the most prudent course of action), Dr. Malik (the doctor managing my diabetes), Dr. Yeoh (an exceptionally skilled cardiologist who promptly assisted my sibling), and Dr. Sritaran (a urologist with empathy for his patients, even the somewhat difficult ones). In conclusion, the doctors and the Indonesian desk at Island Hospital are helpful and kind-hearted.

Came here just because Dr. Oh Kim Soon is here. Dr. Oh is totally very nice person. Unfortunately, The hospital's reimbursement department staff for reimburse insurance is very very not polite & unbelievable so slow. They took almost 2 months just only for doctor statement. & I have paid for international courier service to ship it to my address, but after 2 months later when the doctor statement is ready, they said I only paid for doctor statement & they didn't receive any payment yet for shipping fee. But I clearly remember I paid separately for those, unluckily I have thrown my receipt. They charge me again for courier service that I have paid. But because I need it to reimburse my insurance, how can I not pay for that. So this will be my best experience to always keep receipt no matter how long it will be. 😅😅

It's pointless to have a queue number at Dr. Oh Kim Soon's clinic. Apparently, there are agents in plain clothes who can bring patients in without a queue number.
