I have written a formal complaint, but just in case, I would like it to be known publicly as well. Two stars only because nurses and receptionists were helpful and kind. Extremely Disappointed with Gastro Dept & Dr. Tan Soon Seng at SJMC. My husband was referred by SJMC’s own Emergency Department for suspected acute diverticulitis, with clear lower abdominal symptoms. Instead, Dr. Tan ordered an endoscopy (which does not address diverticulitis) without any imaging like a CT scan. After sedation, the doctor did not brief us in person and simply left. I had to ask a nurse, and eventually speak to the doctor via poor phone connection, where he casually said “just acid reflux.” No explanation was provided as to why the wrong procedure was done, and the results were never discussed properly. We were charged for a specialist service that completely ignored the referral, symptoms, and patient care. Absolutely unacceptable level of professionalism and communication. EDIT: Customer Care has been prompt in investigating my issue for which I am grateful. However, we have to agree to disagree.
