I feel it is important to share this experience so others are aware before choosing this hospital. I had to rush my 2-year-old child to Pantai Hospital due to breathing difficulties and severe dehydration. We urgently needed a nebulizer and IV drip. Instead of urgency, we faced long delays and zero compassion. We were told to fill out forms and wait for a long time before the doctor arrived. When the doctor (Dr. Chai, Medical Officer at the Emergency Room) finally came, he was rude, impatient, and unprofessional. His English was poor and he offered no clear explanation of what was happening. He abruptly told one parent to leave the room, saying harshly: “You leave now, I don’t want two people here!” We didn’t want problems—we just wanted urgent care—so I stepped out. He rushed my wife through her answers and then kicked her out as well. He mentioned the child “must be admitted” and said some tests would be done but gave us no details. Then came the most shocking part: He started drawing blood and repeatedly failed to insert the needle properly. Our child was crying in pain, almost unconscious, while the nurse looked stunned. Without warning, he shoved a nasal swab deep into my child’s nose. When my wife asked, “Is this normal?” his response was: “Shut your baby up, I can’t hear you.” I kept asking for a nebulizer because my child couldn’t breathe, while I signed papers and paid a RM3,000 deposit. They told me if I didn’t pay immediately, I would have to wait 4 hours for insurance approval—which was impossible in an emergency. So I paid. Only after signing and paying did they reveal their policy: My child must be isolated for 24 hours until a COVID test result was out. If a parent wants to stay, they must take a test too. None of this was explained before payment. This was a money-first, care-later approach, completely unacceptable in an emergency. I told them, “Just give my son the drip and we will leave,” but they refused. They said unless I agreed to isolation, they would not give him the drip. At this point, I refused to leave my child alone and decided to leave the hospital. They charged me RM1,800, which I cannot claim from insurance, and I left immediately. I went straight to UMSC, where my child was admitted in 30 minutes. He received the drip and all necessary treatment immediately, with care and professionalism. The difference was like night and day. When I returned to Pantai Hospital later for a medical report, they charged RM100 more. Everything there seems to be about money, not care. The reason I am sharing this is so other parents know what to expect. This hospital needs to: Hire professional and compassionate doctors. Handle emergencies with speed and humanity. Stop hiding policies until after payments are made. Pantai Hospital failed us completely during an emergency. If you value your child’s life and dignity, think twice before coming here.

We recently had our beautiful baby delivered at Pantai KL. The entire experience, from our prenatal check ups with Dr Premitha, the delivery of our baby by Dr Idora, our postnatal lactation consults with Pn Habibah, and our paed appts with Dr Chai have been wonderful. As a parent, I felt supported, informed, and cared for throughout my pre and postnatal period. I would like to especially commend the lactation unit at Pantai. I am newly postpartum and am currently struggling with breastfeeding. Pn Habibah, the lactation consultant at Pantai, has been instrumental in providing me with the support and guidance I need to continue breastfeeding despite all the challenges that I am facing. She has been a kind, informative, and eager supporter for struggling new parents.
