Dr. Lau Peng Choong is a distinguished Consultant Upper GI, Bariatric, and General Surgeon with over two decades of experience. A pioneer in Malaysia, he established the first POEM service for achalasia and is an early adopter of fluorescent imaging in surgery. He champions laparoscopic surgery for faster patient recovery and holds significant academic and leadership roles, including Associate Professor and Head of the Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery Unit at the University of Malaya. Recognized for his contributions, he has received multiple awards and is a board member for national surgical training.
