Went to see 2 different specialist, a gastroenterologist (Dr Ida) and a psychiatrist (Dr Amarpreet). The first doctor wasted RM700 for a test that I believe is performed incorrectly, and the second doctor saved my life. My reason for visiting was that I had gluten intolerance, and upon accidentally consuming a large amount of gluten, I started to become very ill and started fainting at work for 2 weeks. My boss then asked me to visit UMSC and perhaps get tested for Celiac disease. I went to consult the gastroenterologist, and she drew my blood to perform the test. Before this happened, I asked her, “shouldn’t I be on a gluten containing diet in order to do the test?”. She said no need. The test came back negative. I decided to get a second and third opinion from another doctor and a Celiac support group, and everyone told me that the test showed a false negative because I had not been consuming gluten for 2 weeks. Basically wasted RM700+ for no reason. Meanwhile, due to the same incident, I also was having a severe depressive breakdown and was very suicidal. I went to see the psychiatrist on the same day, and asked whether I needed to be on medication in order to work. She said since there is a clear reason for my sudden depression, I don’t need any medication and just need some rest and that I should avoid stress. She issued a 2 weeks MC for me, no meds, and she was right, I just needed some time and less stress in order for my gut to heal. It took me 4 weeks to heal, but 2 weeks of MC really helped kick start my recovery. Overall, I was really disappointed with the gastroenterologist. Fortunately the psychiatrist saved my life with her kind empathy and sound advice.

Specialist were very good no doubt (Dato Goh, Prof Darmendra, Prof Ida and Prof Firdaus) Staffs were good except the Male caterer and neuro lab Male staff (in ward and neuro lab)should ask permission to get in due to women aurat. Admission took very long(4h) but has pre admission longue to chill out watching tv series. Umsc website is the best, better than any other private hospitals .Very easy to book appoinment and see doctors' slot availability .Kudos. Overall satisfied with the service.
