Last week when i did a lot of test, the gastroenterology and hepatology doctor and nurse did inform me to come again for the result on Tuesday 20 august. They’ve told me to come morning after meeting another doctor which was the appointment on the same date. So I arrived and gave my registration to the nurse counter around 10am. I did ask the nurse how long should i wait and she replied there are 3 people in front of me. But after more than 4 people in and out I started to confuse regarding what the nurse informed me which is 3 people in front of me. I already wait until 1.30pm and the nurse still told me 3 people in front of me got me really angry and cancel my consultation with Dr. max Hu. Really terrible and unprofessional service of Sunway Medical Centre

One of the worst experiences I have ever had was with Dr. Max ChuenWei H (gastroenterologist) at Sunway Medical Centre. I wasn’t able to express my symptoms and concerns accurately because he made inappropriate presumptions when I tried to communicate, to a point I felt uncomfortable. IMHO, he was apathy and unprofessional.

    i) I was rushed to the emergency department on 5/10/2023 at 1pm due to severe vomiting and diarrhoea. Was advise for admission due to high white blood cell count but was later informed by ED that Dr Max Hu (Hu Chuen Wei) rejected to take me in as a patient simply because I am currently pregnant. He was only concern about the trouble he might face with the insurance company because of my pregnancy when my symptoms had zero relation to the pregnancy. I hope the medical affairs can look into such horrible medical ethics. Thankfully the staff at ED fought for me and found me another specialist who was willing to accept my case. ii) I requested and paid extra for a Single Premier Room, but was wheeled into a single isolation room without being informed. Hospital still charged me at the premier room rate of RM350 even though the isolation room was smaller, had no sofa bed, and was not conducive for a guardian to stay overnight. iii) I was cleared for discharge at 5pm on 6/10/2023 by the specialist. However, my insurance guarantee letter request for ADMISSION was only submitted to the insurance company at 5.56pm the day of my discharge. Hospital refused to allow me to leave because my GL has not been approved even though the hospital did not submit the GL request during my admission (more than 24 hours ago). I spent hours and hours waiting to be released, and ended up having to pay a lump sum of deposit to ensure the hospital gets their money. SunMed, I have experienced more mental distress dealing with these than my physical discomfort. Such a disappointing experience!
