Professor Dr. Vicknes Waran Mathaneswaran is a pioneering neurosurgeon in Malaysia, renowned for establishing and advancing neurosurgical services. A gold medalist from the University of Malaya, he specializes in skull base, pituitary, and minimally invasive endoscopic brain surgery. He founded and grew the Neurosurgery Unit at UMMC into a leading training center. His research focuses on simplifying neurosurgery, leading to inventions and the co-founding of a tech startup for cranial implants and 3D-printed models. He also developed surgical simulators used across the Asia Pacific and MEDCOM, 'Next Generation Telemedicine.' A full Professor since 2007, he has served as Head of Surgery and Medical Director of UMSC, significantly contributing to its expansion.
