Staff and nurse are very brisk and professional. I had a minor surgery done by Dato Dr Yip Kok Thye which went well. Facility is a bit dated (compared to other newer hospital) but clean and well maintained. Waiting time for operating theatre can be rather long as the queue is long. This is a busy hospital so long queue is expected. Food for in-patient is very healthy but rather unappetizing. Cafetaria is spacious and plenty of seating available. Total medical cost is very reasonable with the level of service provided. One thing which might need improvement is handling patient with global insurance coverage. The cashier on ground floor was rather in the dark about the procedure until the matter was handled by Corporate Billing on third floor. Frankly I'm covered by global insurance which allows me to pick Gleneagle Singapore but I choosed to come to HLWE because I heard many positive feedback from friends and relatives who was handled by Dr Yip.

I find it cheaper here than other hospital I've ever been in Penang. All staff were so helpful and friendly. Met Dr. Yip for the first time and impressed by the long queue. Excellent service. The cafeteria sell many options of healthy food, drinks and snacks. Clean toilet. Free public wifi. Spacious parking space.

Thank you so much dr Yip Kok Thye, a general surgeon who successfully removed my gallblader. It has been 3 months since surgery and i didn't experience any side effect. Amazing work. God bless ! However for ophthalmologist, my family and I was disappointed with dr initial Y. The doctor is a bit less patience in answering questions and obvious money oriented. At first patient needs some eye screenings performed by staff at screening room and followed by further eye examination by doctor. After leaving clinic, I got phone call from my family that the doctor asked me to return to clinic for another test. But I declined since during consultation, the doctor didn't see any abnormalities in my eyes. At the end, one of family paid fee double compared to my bill. One thing I still don't understand why I should undergo another test if I ask for my eye prescription. So what's the purpose I paid fee for eye screening. Doing too many overlapped test, patients feel being ripped off. Dear LWE management, need your attention for the issue that I believe other patients experience it too.
