Dr Ashvin Nair is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon who specialises in surgical diseases related to the heart, lungs and chest. He graduated from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom in 2010. He did his foundation and basic surgical training at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. Subsequently he returned to Malaysia and joined UMMC in 2013 and became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (MRCS) in 2015. Following that, he was appointed as one of the pioneer National Cardiothoracic Surgery trainees in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship Programme in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2016. Having completed his training, he was awarded the qualification Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in the specialty of Cardiothoracic Surgery (FRCSEd C-Th) in 2022. He further undertook a clinical fellowship in Adult Cardiac Surgery at the internationally renowned Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge (UK). He has gained vast experience in diagnosis, management and operative skills in the field of cardiac and thoracic surgery. He also has a keen interest in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, surgical education and clinical research.
