Dr. Basel Ebernesan Noel Arputharaj and Dr. Khaw Teik Seng belong to the latter. Many years ago, I underwent a left thyroidectomy at KPJ Ipoh by Dr. Ting. Recently, a nodule was discovered on the right side of my thyroid. What impressed me from the very beginning was Dr. Basel's integrity. Unlike many surgeons who may recommend surgery at the earliest opportunity, he never rushed me into the operating theatre. Instead, he chose the more responsible approach, careful monitoring with regular follow-ups. Unfortunately, within just six months, my thyroid nodule grew to 3.1 cm. Only then did Dr. Basel advise me to consider surgery, explaining that complete removal would provide a definitive diagnosis, ensure it was benign and eliminate the risk of future complications as it continued to grow. He took the time to explain every detail of the procedure, including possible complications such as hoarseness, injury to the parathyroid glands affecting calcium levels, bleeding and other risks. His calm confidence gave me the reassurance I desperately needed. Finally my operation fixed on the 15th June 2026. The surgery itself was nothing short of outstanding. His surgical skills are truly remarkable. I experienced no complications whatsoever, no hoarse voice, no calcium issues, no excessive bleeding and I didn't even require a surgical drain. My recovery has been smooth, comfortable and exactly as he had hoped. Every promise he made before surgery became my reality afterwards. That speaks volumes about his experience and precision.
