Five stars for Mahkota Medical Center
The service was excellent, from my doctor, Dr. Premathevan, the two assistants at the clinic, the nurse on shift in Room 770, and the registration staff on the 3rd floor. Everyone was very kind and friendly.
I came here on the recommendation of the Mahkota representative office in Palembang. I made an appointment for January 28th. When I arrived, I was second in line. Based on the MRI results I brought from Indonesia, I was immediately advised to undergo an arthroscopy and biopsy due to a suspected tumor in my knee. I had to negotiate because the cost was quite high, especially since the Indonesian currency exchange rate had dropped significantly (total cost 26,000 RM). I finally agreed to the surgery on January 29th. I was told to fast from 12:00 AM and was asked to come in from the ER at 6:00 AM. Registration was very quick.
The registration staff on the 3rd floor were also great and friendly. I went back and forth because my father was also checking in for a check-up.
At 6:30 AM on January 29th, I was in room 770. I was given a surgical gown, and the nurse checked my blood pressure and temperature. They checked my blood pressure repeatedly, as I was scared. 😅 I was so thankful that all the nurses on shift that day were very friendly. 🤩🫶🏻. At almost 7:30 AM, the doctor arrived to mark the area to be operated on, and I was immediately taken to the operating room.
When I arrived in the operating room, I was examined by the anesthesiologist, Dr. Lim Nyang Meng. Regarding the planned anesthesia, the doctor recommended spinal anesthesia over GA, but I chose GA because I'm scared. The doctor said, "Okay then, it's okay to just sleep for a while." 🤣 The doctor was very friendly, even inserting the IV line himself. The entire operating room staff, including the Chinese, Malaysian, and Indian nurses, were all very friendly, so I wasn't afraid during my time in the operating room.
After the surgery, I was woken up to move to the room. The nurse kept coming in several times to check my blood pressure because it was still high. The male nutritionist who delivered the food was also very friendly. My dad had requested that I be vegetarian, and all the food was delicious 🤤. Although the room was for four patients, it was very clean, with a TV and air conditioning for each patient's bed.
That evening, the doctor visited, and I was allowed to go home. On the 30th, I went to the clinic at 11 a.m. Unfortunately, I didn't see the doctor on the day itself. But don't worry, Cece, Doctor Prem's assistant, whose name I don't know, was very friendly and patient when she taught me how to change my wound dressing 🫶🏻🫶🏻.
On the 31st, it turned out I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic, and my whole body was itching. Luckily, I was still in Melaka. I went straight to the clinic. Cece, the assistant, hadn't arrived yet. My other sister, who was staying, immediately called Dr. Prem. After the visit, they met to get additional medication for the allergy.
I'm currently in the recovery phase. Thankfully, the results were sent via WhatsApp on February 2nd, and it wasn't a tumor. Hopefully, my complaint of knee pain when squatting will go away. Oh yeah, surprisingly, this hospital provided a video recording of my arthroscopy procedure 😂, very nice.
I'm a general practitioner in Indonesia and I'm truly satisfied with the service at MMC. I don't mean to compare hospitals in Indonesia and Malaysia, but I rarely see such consistent service in every room. I hope this kind of service continues, and I hope all the staff always give their best to their patients.
Sorry if my review is so long, I just wanted to share my experience at MMC.
Thank you 😊😍🙏🏻.
