Our parent has been getting treatment from Beacon. Our experience with Beacon has been average at best, given their not-cheap fees. There are, however, pockets of good staff (including nurses and doctors -- shoutout to Dr Betty, Dr Lau, and the Indian nurse at Lily ward -- sorry, we didn't get your name) who are caring, helpful, and patient. Beacon's clinics and specialists work pretty much in silos; they do not holistically consider the patient's and the patient's carers' situation. We experienced several frustrating moments when we had to decipher and manage around the hospital's haphazard systems, in most aspects (tech, processes, and procedures). Secondly, some doctors are uncaring and seemed only to want to quickly check in/out the patient. An experience that left a bad taste in my mouth -- one doctor was chatting away about himself after performing some standard checks and stating some basic advice. There were no diagnosis, little information offered to shed light on our parent's condition, and advice given on what we could do to alleviate our parent's condition. We were very disappointed with this particular doctor, who appeared to have quickly dismissed the patient and was merely interested to bill us an exorbitant amount of fees for seeing him for 5-10 minutes. I was considering doing health screening here but am now hesitant to do so, given the hit-and-miss experience at Beacon. I do wish for Beacon's success as we need more options of healthcare providers -- please treat any negative feedback seriously and implement programmes to improve your services. Please also screen your doctors and employ only those who can care about patients -- you may need to reconsider your incentive systems.
