Dr. Ramu Palaniappan is a distinguished General Surgeon at KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital, renowned for his pioneering work in advanced laparoscopic surgery. He is celebrated as the first surgeon in Kota Kinabalu to perform Laparoscopic Incisional Hernia repair in 2006 and significantly expanded colorectal laparoscopic services after his fellowship in Vietnam. With extensive experience in complex laparoscopic procedures for hernias, gall bladder, colon, stomach conditions, and weight loss surgery, he also excels in diagnostic and therapeutic gastro-intestinal endoscopies. Dr. Palaniappan is also dedicated to medical education, serving as a lecturer and examiner at Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
