I am writing to formally raise serious concerns regarding the conduct of Dr. Jeyanthi Kulasegarah during a recent consultation for my son, who has been experiencing a blocked ear. Upon our visit, Dr. Kulasegarah conducted some tests but was unable to identify any medical issues. Instead of exploring further possibilities, she immediately suggested that my five-year-old son was lying about his symptoms. This allegation is both inappropriate and deeply troubling. My son clearly communicated that he still feels discomfort in his ear, yet Dr. Kulasegarah dismissed his concerns and implied that he might be seeking attention due to unrelated incidents at school. Furthermore, I found it ethically questionable when she asked my young child to read the medical report, indicating that nothing was wrong, and then asked him to point out where he believed the issue was. This approach not only undermines my son's feelings but also places an unfair burden on a child to validate his medical condition, which is entirely inappropriate for his age. Dr. Kulasegarah's request for me to "be open-minded" while she disregarded my son's clear discomfort raises significant ethical questions about her judgment and professionalism. It is critical for healthcare providers to prioritize a child's well-being and treat their concerns with the utmost seriousness, rather than casting doubt and attributing their symptoms to behavioral issues without proper investigation. I urge you to take immediate action regarding this matter. Children deserve compassionate care, and your institution should be a safe space for open communication and thorough medical evaluation. Thank you for your prompt attention to this serious issue. I look forward to your response.
