We travelled all the way from Ipoh to consult Dr Chong Yip Boon, Consultant Nephrologist, after reading his outstanding Google reviews and the experience was truly beyond our expectations. Dr Chong was exceptionally kind, humble, and deeply compassionate towards my mother. It was our first time meeting him, and we were genuinely moved by the way he handled the consultation. When my mother became emotional and broke down in tears, he responded with such gentleness and empathy, even offering a reassuring hug that brought her comfort in that vulnerable moment. Throughout the consultation, he explained every detail with great clarity and patience, ensuring we fully understood her condition and the next steps. What stood out even more was his constant reassurance gently holding my mother’s hand at times, making her feel heard, safe, and cared for. As a doctor myself, I always try to provide this level of empathy to my patients, so witnessing it from a specialist was truly heartening and rare. Unlike the rushed, “touch-and-go” consultations commonly seen in many clinics, Dr Chong took his time, listened attentively, and treated my mother with genuine humanity and respect. In every sense, he represents the kind of doctor every patient hopes to meet both clinically excellent and deeply compassionate. Dr. Chong is treating my dad for his CKD and we are very grateful for having met him. During initial consults, he was very conscientious and thorough in reviewing dad’s history but also kind when speaking with dad and I about his CKD, the treatment and care plan moving forward. I especially appreciate Dr. Chong’s approach whereby he ensures that all measures and means are considered and taken to avoid dad having to undergo dialysis but at the same time very grounded and calm when explaining to us what to expect re: the eventuality of dialysis if all else fail - it is not the end of the world and that the transition can be smooth.

Just visited this brand new hospital today to meet with Dr Chong Yip Boon, a quite well-known nephrologist. The hospital is brand new, so everything is clean and fresh. In fact it’s so fresh that the whole hospital smells amazing, none of that stale old hospital smell. The outpatient clinics is spacious, comfortable and well lit. There are many specialists here and from my understanding there are more coming in the near future. Registration is a breeze and because the hospital is new, it’s not as busy as other older hospitals around the area. The whole hospital is also easy to get around once you’re inside. Getting into the hospital though is a bit tricky. You’ll need to make sure you enter the right way or else you’ll need to make a big detour to get back to the hospital. But once you know the way it’s no problem. Parking is multi-level and it’s easy to get a parking lot for now. I had a chance to visit the dialysis center on the 6th floor. Compared to my current dialysis center this one is huge. It’s brightly lit with a lot of natural sunlight so you will feel at peace and relaxed because you won’t feel like you’re stuck in a basement somewhere. There are many chairs and beds for dialysis patients and they have private rooms available too. The equipment used is also new and top-notch. I have not tried the other facilities or visited the wards, but from my quick visit I feel it should match and be up to par to the excellent condition of everything else that I experienced while I was there. I do recommend coming here for your treatment. If you’re familiar with the Sunway hospitals then you should know what to expect when you come here.
