On March 25, 2024, I underwent corneal surgery on my right eye at a government hospital. Post-surgery, I experienced blurred vision and difficulty reading subtitles, leading me to seek a second opinion from another specialist. On May 15, I visited Damansara Sunway Specialist Centre to see Dr. Yong Meng Hsien (杨铭贤医生), whom I had booked an appointment with. I chose him after extensive online research, as he had the best reputation among ophthalmologists. The optometrist conducted an initial vision check before I saw the doctor. I was pleasantly surprised by Dr. Yong's humble and courteous demeanor. He patiently listened to my concerns, re-examined my eyes, and then explained my vision issues in detail, offering his professional opinion. He stated that it was a minor issue requiring a laser vision correction surgery, which would take only a few minutes and cost less than a few hundred dollars. Considering the reasonable cost and the necessity of the procedure, I decided to schedule it immediately. Dr. Yong's surgical skill was exceptional. The entire procedure was very relaxed, without any anxiety, and completed in about five minutes. I felt no stinging or discomfort. I believe it is difficult to find a doctor who is both highly skilled and possesses a good, patient attitude towards patients. Finding a doctor with strong medical ethics is even harder! I am grateful to have met such a wonderful doctor! I hope my review will be seen by more people, offering them better choices. The hospital is conveniently located right in front of the MRT station with ample parking. Besides ophthalmology, they have many other specialist departments such as dermatology, pediatrics, gynecology, etc. What is most commendable is that on the second day after the surgery, Dr. Yong personally contacted me via WeChat three times to inquire about any discomfort and whether the eye drops caused any sensitivity. This post-operative follow-up, combined with his excellent attitude and medical ethics, sets a positive and healthy example for Dr. Yong in the medical field, which is highly commendable! I am grateful to have met a good doctor!

As recommended by my regular optometrist, I went to his office for an eye exam. Following his consultation, he diagnosed my eye with cataract. Dr. Yong has extensive knowledge and experience. After some questions and responses, he provided his recommendations and explanations. He went over all of the lens options available to me. While intimidating, the day of the procedure turned out to be relatively quick and painless. His regular prompt on what he would do next is calming and eliminates the anticipation. Any pain thoughts were miraculously removed. He would call and follow up, ensuring that the patient is on the road to complete recovery and that the eye drops are administered correctly—such a caring and patient doctor. Because of him, I now have PERFECT eyesight. I highly recommend him to anyone who seeks an eye surgeon for cataract surgery.
