2022 was a challenging year for me. I was diagnosed with coronary artery blockage and required bypass surgery. At the time, I felt panicked, as this is a major operation. After consulting with several doctors, I ultimately chose Dr. Kenny Cheng, a cardiac surgeon. This was because his medical equipment was more advanced. Generally, surgery involves an incision to harvest a vein from the leg to connect to the heart. However, Dr. Kenny used the most advanced instruments to avoid the leg incision. Of course, with excellent equipment and superb surgical skills, this surgery was a great success, and I was discharged after only a 6-day hospital stay. As the saying goes, a doctor's heart is like a parent's. I sincerely thank Dr. Kenny for giving me renewed hope in life.

A heartfelt thanks to Dr Kenny on conducting a successful triple heart bypass for my dad. Although the procedure was complex and challenging, his confidence provided comfort to my father and our family. His skilful and innovative surgery technique also resulted in a much smaller incision on the thigh, resulting in faster recovery. While direct with straightforward answers, Dr Kenny made my father very comfortable from the outset. A special mention also to Dr Navid, our anaesthetist, who took time to explain the procedure thoroughly and answered all of our questions patiently. Overall, we are highly appreciative of Dr. Kenny and the team.

I was referred to Dr Kenny Cheng by Dr KS Goh for the removal of my right lung lower lobe. My first impression of Dr Kenny was –ehhh, Ip Man ah? No wor…. my surgeon wor…. Dr Kenny explained the procedures and risks involved in the surgery clearly, in 3 languages. However, the most memorable part of our first meeting was that he scheduled my operations on Thursday, 4 April……..haizzzzz - dear Doc, Chinese pantang le……. Anyway, the operation postponed to a later date; I came out from the OT alive and kicking; I left SJMC in just 3 days. Dr Kenny, I sincerely hope I will not meet you again as my operating surgeon; instead, I want to refer you as the surgeon who gave me the chance to continue living well. Our heartfelt thanks for your efforts, dedication, care and kind consideration throughout our meetings. Take good care and do continue to give other patients a chance to live well too.
