Hospital, Penang - LWEH/REVIEW-010426. My week and a half LWEH stay for a lower back spinal operation was a most incomparably happy experience in true Hospitality Management. My Neurosurgeon Dr Chan, Anaesthetist Dr Ng, Phycisian Dr Ronnie, the ancillary support staff - Physiotherapists, Nurses, Aids, Cleaners & Kitchen help, all were humble, patient, cheerful, compassionate and caring. The meals were tasty and nutritious. Cleanliness was of excellent quality. LWEH has a world class standard of operative completenss to handle all and every aspect of health needs. My heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to the team, for a most difficult procedure of 5 hours in the OT, well done and bringing me back alive at eighty years of age. Now perhaps I can Walk Tall & Straight Backed towards the century .

I would like to share my feedback regarding both my positive and negative experiences with your hospital’s services, behaviour, manners, and level of respect shown to patients and their families. My family has been receiving treatment at Lam Wah Ee Hospital for many years. My late grandmother, was treated here for breast cancer and also passed away in this hospital. Later, my father received treatment here for bypass surgery, nerve related issues, and diabetes. During those years, the doctors, nurses, and staff we met were kind, respectful, patient, and professional. Their behaviour and attitude gave us great comfort and satisfaction during difficult times. However, I am very disappointed with two recent experiences. Firstly, when I visited the Emergency department on 12th January 2026 due to severe nerve pain and gastric issues, I was examined by Medical Officer Dr Gita. Unfortunately, her behaviour was rude and unfriendly. She appeared to make fun of patients who were clearly suffering in pain, which was extremely unprofessional and upsetting. The same attitude was shown again when I brought my mother to the emergency department due to a fracture. This experience left a very negative impression on us. Secondly, my mother was later treated by Dr Tan Chen Aun. As patients, we are paying for medical services, and therefore we have the right to ask questions and receive proper explanations regarding treatment. What patients need most is a doctor who is willing to listen, explain clearly, and give sufficient time. Unfortunately, he was very rushed, spoke extremely fast, showed poor manners, and spent no more than three minutes during his round. We were charged RM100 for this consultation. Not all patients are highly educated or able to quickly understand fast explanations, and as a doctor, he should be aware of this. This experience was very disappointing. The statement I given about them is not related with declined insurance for your info. That said, I would also like to sincerely appreciate and acknowledge the many doctors and nurses who have consistently provided excellent care with kindness, respect, patience, and genuine concern. The following individuals truly represent the best of your hospital: • Dr Lam Hong Yoong • Dr Chan Jun Yeen • Dr S. Shanker • Dr R. Puthashanan • Dr Chuah Joo Leong • Nur Safinah • Marry • Fellowmina • Deetha • Noraine • Uvanandhini All of them are exceptional human beings, and I truly appreciate their dedication, warm attitude, and professionalism. Kindly take my feedback seriously and share it with the two individuals mentioned, so they may understand where improvement is needed. Despite these issues, my family, friends, and I will continue to choose Lam Wah Ee Hospital because of the many outstanding doctors and staff who have cared for us over the years. Thank you.
