What a traumatic experience that I have to endure over the last couple of days. On last Thursday, 9th December, I suffered a very severe retina fall/detachment on my left eye while driving. It came so suddenly without any warning. I lost, I think, 3/4 of the vision on my left eye. Consulted an eye specialist centre in PJ the next day but was referred to Dr Ho Whye Onn of ISEC who, I understand, is one of the few experts in VR surgery. He did the VR surgery on my retina on Saturday, 11th December. It was quite a long, complicated and delicate procedure but smooth and successful. Over the whole process including the Whatsapp follow ups and check up, I know I am in good hands.Thanks Dr Ho for your professionalism and expertise help in restoring my detached retina and most importantly my vision. You have dispelled completely my fear and anxiety since the first day I met you. Thanks God, the vision of my left eye is gradually coming back. I can see my hand, fingers and legs now though not very clearly compared to complete darkness before the operation! I am confident that under your care I can regain as much vision of my left eye if not 100% as day progresses. I would like to strongly recommend Dr Ho Whye Onn. He has treated my macular degeneration. When I first came, my central vision is extremely blurred due to severe bleeding. Dr Ho is an Eye specialist and Retina 视网膜 专家Specialist. He is a very good doctor, friendly and always willing to listen. He explained the eye disease and treatment to me and my family. Initially I am so scared of losing the vision. Dr Ho constantly gives me reassurance and check that I am alright. I am now able to see so much better and feel grateful for his meticulous treatment. In Feb 2021, I had an emergency retinal tear and was referred to Dr. Ho Whye Onn, it was very concerning because I was now seeing dark spot (16%) in my peripheral vision. Upon my request, Dr. Ho scheduled me the next day for surgery, I was very nervous as to what to expect but the clinic staff who performed the pre-op tests reassured me that I am in good hands with Dr. Ho. He is precise in explaining the procedure (Trans-pars plana vitrectomy with sclera buckling) and precautions post-surgery (such as face down posturing) and truthful enough to informed me that chances of my vision being restored would be 80%. The day of my procedure everything went smoothly and I was in and out of operating theatre without discomfort, in about 2hrs. Follow-ups examination were extremely thorough and results are fabulous! My eye fully healed within two months. Dr. Ho had preserved my vision (100%) with his good surgical skills, this is a precious gift that I am grateful for. In Feb 2022, cataract formed on my same eye due to vitrectomy surgery, again I decided to see Dr. Ho for consultations. As I already had fair understanding of the cataract procedure (Phacoemulsification with lens implant), I decided to just do one eye, he is knowledgeable yet be comfortable with my option. Dr. Ho is sincere in explaining the cons and pros of my option, direct manner keeping expectations realistic. Two months post cataract surgery checkup, scan and assessment shown full and successful recovery without any visual distortion. I am extremely lucky to have met Dr. Ho Whye Onn and am eternally thankful to him for saving my vision. Thank you Dr. Cheah, consultant anesthetist, caring and compassionate, put all my fears at ease and helped me overcome my anxiety over the two surgeries.
