Dr Chan Jan Bond restored my vision! I was recommended to Dr Chan by my sister who underwent a cataract procedure about a year ago. I was initially afraid of the cataract procedure, but my sister who already did her cataract surgery assured me how professional and skillful Dr Chan was. What helped me overcome my fear was that my sister told me it only took 20 mins for the surgery! When Dr Chan first diagnosed my eyes, I quickly learned that not only do I have cataract, but also diabetic retinopathy. He then patiently and professionally explains to me, with detail and easy to understand terms on how and why the diabetic retinopathy has developed. After that he then explained the surgical procedures. Firstly, Dr Chan did an injection for my left eye to bring down the swelling due to my diabetic retinopathy. I am actually afraid of needles, and when I was told that I needed to have my eyes injected, I was much more afraid. However, during the injection procedure Dr Chan was good at taking my mind off the fear of the needle, I didn’t feel any pain and I remember that the procedure was quick. Once the swelling subside after four injection procedures, Dr Chan then explained the cataract procedure and gave me options of lenses, I chose Zeiss as I am familiar with that brand, and Dr Chan continued with my cataract surgery, the surgery only took about 20 mins, just like what my sister said. After both eyes were done, I now not only can see clearly, but no longer need glasses for my short sightedness and astigmatism. I am so happy that Dr Chan Jan Bond is my consultant and surgeon. First, I wanted to say thanks a million to Dr Chan Jan Bond for restoring my vision. I came to Dr Chan Jan Bond due to a slight blurring in my vision and found out that I have cataract. Dr Chan has been very professional in the whole process. First, he explains on how and why the cataract has developed and explained the options of lenses ranging from monofocal to various multifocal lenses. Dr Chan then help me explore what my needs are in my vision on a daily basis to narrow down the options of lenses. After the consultation, I chose to have a trifocal from the company Carl Zeiss. Apparently, they too have lenses for cataract surgery! I was then scheduled for surgery 1 week after, during the surgery I felt very comfortable and painless as Dr Chan was really gentle, the cataract procedure only took 10 mins (and I am not exaggerating). The very next day, I can already tell the difference from the operated eye comparing to my second cataract eye. I was able to read really small and fine prints and see a distance without glasses, there is definitely a great improvement from the other eye, the light is brighter and I could read without using my “lou fa” glasses. I was so excited that I did my second eye the following week and was not nervous at all due to my experience from the first surgery. I am so happy with Dr Chan Jan Bond as my consultant and surgeon. Specially thanks to Dr Chan Jan Bond, the ophthalmologist who performed this IOL implantation surgery ❤️ :- "I am an 81-year-old lady with vision issues that worsened lately. My son brought me to an optometrist who said an auto reflector couldn't penetrate some parts of my eyes. He referred me to a Dr Chan Jan Bond at International Specialist Eye Centre. My son accompanied me there and the staff was very nice to us. Elias at the counter was very patient with us and gave us very clear directions. We went to a room to examine my eyes for retinal acuity. I learned that I had cataract in both my eyes and proceeded to meet technician Hazel. She was very friendly and explained everything in layman's terms, so both my son and I understood quite well what she was performing using various machines - to scan biometry, topography, etc. Dr Chan confirmed that I indeed have cataract in both eyes and laid out the available options. I told him that I wish my eyesight could return to what I cherished throughout my youthful days, so he recommended a Zeiss trifocal to me. I then went to the counselling room where I was informed about the do's and don'ts post-operation. I was relieved that the surgery on my left eye was done in under 15 minutes since I entered the operation theatre. The doctor knew his way around my anxiety, and I didn't experience any pain too. After that, my son went to collect medication while I rested on a very comfortable reclining chair. Then, a sweet and humble nurse Mimi checked my blood pressure and then taught me how to use the various medications with great patience. I tend to be forgetful, so it was great that she explained it to my son too. On the way home, I could start to see buildings again. This was around 2 hours after the surgery... on the same day. Actually, while chatting with her, I learned that she prioritised my experience so much that she was holding it in and hasn't eaten either. While I wish she hadn’t done that, I appreciated her dedication towards customer experience. The next day, we went there again for my second operation. Right eye this time. I'm very impressed with the consistent pleasant experience once again. I'm not familiar with these things at all but everyone was patient and helped me understand very well. On the way home, I could finally read licence plates and those tiny words on Chinese newspapers. I haven't been able to do these for a few months already so you could imagine my joy. I'm grateful that my son took time to care for my wellbeing during these hard times and also the staff who restored my eyesight. Based on my experience with them so far, I'm convinced my follow-up check-up will be just as pleasant."

Been contemplating cataract & lens replacement surgery for many years. Did my research & after talking to Dr Chan Jan Bond I plucked up the courage to proceed with the surgery. Did my left eye on Jan 10th,2022. A follow-up care checkup was done next day on Jan 11th & I was given clearance to complete the right eye on Jan 14th, all within the same week to minimise vision imbalance due to my high eyes power.
