I was impressed with SJMC Oncology Chemo Day Care Center at SJMC since I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in October 2023. The registration and administration process was smooth and the insurance Letter of Guarantee issued was fast. Dr. Yap Beng Khiong and all the nurses at the Day Care Center were all very friendly and helpful even though they were busy all the time. Dr. Yap is a very professional and experienced doctor when it comes to managing my case. I have a cancer wound that was depressing to handle but Ms. Tillai Kumari, a senior nurse that was in charge of my wound always comfort me and care about me even during her personal rest time. She is very experienced to manage my wound and also absolutely responsible as she constantly monitors my wound progress and update Dr. Yap. Furthermore, Dr. Yap and Ms. Tillai could patiently explain my condition to my family and I in a professional yet understandable way. I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Yap, Ms. Tillai and their team that helped me a lot from the first day till now and I eagerly hope that I can fully recover after I have completed my chemo cycle with the expertise of the SJMC medical team.

Great overall experience with SJMC Cancer & Radiosurgery Centre (CRC) Dept. Started with Clinic Assistants that are attentive. Went in early at 8am to register. Told to have breakfast and come back before 10am as doctor will be in only at 10am. When doctor came in, but suddenly rushed out, Clinic Assistant came over to explain that doctor received emergency call and had to attend it first. As patient and family members that are waiting, this is very appreciated as we are informed of the sudden change. Then managed to see doctor; Oncologist - Dr Yap Beng Khiong for the first time. Must say we have seen many doctors in the past, but he's a role model to all doctors. He's very humble, attentive, polite and most importantly patience in explaining the details in layman terms. He explained it to my dad (patient) in mandarin as my dad cant understand english and also took further questions from us in english. He also allowed our siblings to video call, and allow all of us to ask questions. We do not have many questions though as Dr. Yap explained everything very well. We felt at ease and have great confident that my dad (patient) is in good hand. Last but not least, we were approached by Elaine Low - Cancer Care Coordinator, after consultation with Dr. Yap. She seek our feedbacks and shared experiences of other patients. She also offer assistance by providing contact in case we have further queries. She took note of my dad's further appointments to follow-up closely with us. Kudos to SJMC CRC dept. for the great experience!

My wife is a breast cancer patient, and we have chosen SJMC for their reputation in cancer treatment. Dr. Yap Beng Keong was recommended to us, and we would say he's the top notch Oncologist. He's so kind and caring, speaking to his patients in a very soft and humble tone. Dr Yap is never pushy when it comes to decision makings, he always explain things clearly and tell us his suggestions. My wife feels very confident every time after speaking to him. Ms Elaine Low, from the CRC department is the most helpful person in the hospital. She has been taking care of us since day one, making sure everything is smooth every time when we visit the hospital. With her help, we feel much relieve from the hectic of being in a hospital. She's well informed about doctors' schedules, treatment plans, and always trying to make sure we feel comfortable in the hospital. Elaine is a God sent, we love her. In the Cancer Day Care Center, most of their nurses are well trained and very effective at whatever they are doing. We get the best care and treatment every time. Our favourite has to be Sister Letchumi, the cheerful leader of the nurse team. We were met with a few problems during wife's first chemo cycle, but Sister handled everything so professionally. As conclusion we are so glad we decided to go to SJMC for my wife's cancer treatments. It is the best decision.

Dr. Yap, with his extensive experience, did not insist on chemotherapy or targeted therapy, understanding that such treatments might affect the quality of life in his remaining days. We understand the side effects of chemotherapy and are prepared to consider it should the cancer progress further. We are thankful for Dr. Yap's thorough professional guidance in this regard, and for his clear and comprehensive communication with the patient and family before considering any chemotherapy options. This approach not only reflects their professional integrity, but also their commitment to patient-centered care, prioritizing my father's dignity and comfort over potential financial gains for the hospital. We are also deeply appreciative of Elaine Low, whose support has helped our family navigate this difficult time. Her assistance has been invaluable in managing the emotional and practical challenges we have faced. Additionally, I am extremely grateful to Dr. Alex, who performed local electrical therapy on my father's lungs and liver. This treatment has significantly improved my father's quality of life. Dr. Alex's expertise and dedication have made a tremendous difference in his well-being. I highly recommend Dr. Yap and Dr. Alex for their compassionate and thoughtful approach to patient care.
