I’ve been having heel pain after a misstep while descending Batu Caves on 1st January, and it gradually became worse. Every morning, I couldn’t even put my foot down properly,the first step was always very painful. It really affected my daily routine as a teacher, as I need to walk and stand for long hours. I was quite worried, so I went to a few clinics for consultations and X-rays, and was diagnosed with a calcaneal bone spur and plantar fasciitis. After getting a referral, I met Dr. Gurmeet at Sri Kota Medical Centre. He did an ultrasound and later referred me for an MRI, which showed significant swelling and even an ankle tear. He first treated me with medication to reduce the pain and swelling, and then gave me an injection for my left leg, which was more severe. He advised me on lifestyle changes like wearing insoles, doing physiotherapy (shockwave, ultrasound, cryotherapy), and stretching exercises. I followed his advice for about 6 weeks, and I can honestly say I’ve improved about 90%. The swelling reduced so much, and best of all, no more pain during my first step in the morning! I also followed his advice on icing, wearing ankle support, and taking proper rest while walking and standing.
